Black Fire Exploration

The Port of Chiapas

Blackfire is currently in talks with government authorities to build a mineral terminal at the port of Chiapas.

The Port of Chiapas is located in a strategic area of the world, the gateway from Central and South America to Asian markets . There are three critical factors to remember in regards to the importance of this port:

  1. This port will allow Blackfire to sell our iron ore and titanium production to Asian customers.
  2. The mineral terminal will add value to all our mineral assets.
  3. Tapachula is a key trading center with Central America.

The Federal Government owns the port land, which is leased for 20 years and available for renewal to 2045. The workers are part of the Port Union, which has not had a strike in 85 years, and the Port has very good relations with the Union. The government has given Blackfire a written agreement for 500m by 300m of waterfront and first rights to as much land as we require at the Port. As such, Blackfire has sent a letter to the Port of Chiapas requesting 300m of new dock front to be constructed commencing after our barite mine is in full production. This 300m x 500m area is the final land parcel available in the current port.

The port authorities will build a railway spur line to the facility during construction of the dock. Ground studies have been done and the ground passes weight-bearing tests. A government budget has also been approved for upgrading the rail which is already in place at the Port. The port facility can be privately owned with no limits on foreign investment (foreigners can own 100%) and because the Port is on federal land, there are no import or export taxes
